The Rugova Canyon (Gryka e Rugovës) is a breathtaking natural wonder stretching 25 kilometers in length and reaching depths of up to 1,000 meters, making it one of the longest and deepest canyons in Europe. Carved by the Peja Bistrica River over millions of years, the canyon offers dramatic limestone cliffs, caves, waterfalls, and some of the most spectacular scenery in the Balkans .
In 2021, the upper part of the canyon was designated as a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, recognizing its outstanding natural value and biodiversity. The region is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering via ferrata climbing routes, zip-lining, rock climbing, mountain biking, and hiking trails for all skill levels .
